nature & cultural experience
Sitinggil is a unique, 150yo historical Javanese wooden house. Single and double (lockable) bedrooms- each with an antique iron bed and new spring mattress, fan, and mosquito net, are available for daily, weekly or monthly rent. There are 4 simple shared bathrooms and a multitude of indoor and outdoor spaces guests are welcome to enjoy.
Muncul is still highly community orientated. Be prepared to engage with modern Javanese village life immediately, which is a fascinating mix of old and new. Calls to prayer can be heard, and it's an 'early to bed and early to rise' environment. Rain in monsoon season is refreshing, fast and furious, and typically passes within a few hours. There are numerous fabulous walking paths behind the property, many sightseeing opportunities in the immediate area, and even a spring water swimming pool across the road. You are sure to want to explore!
We are locavores, taking as much from the garden as possible, and cuisine is majority local, with a few fusion-inspired surprises. Our Javanese restaurant is open for lunch but you can pre-book other menu options (vegan, Western etc) and meals (breakfast and dinner). House is no-smoking inside. Modest dress is a must and you may need something warm for nights.
